Creative Thinking, Tea-Drinking Fantasy Writer, Blogger, Editor, Author Cheerleader, and Small Business Owner.
When I was growing up, writing was something that was encouraged. I always received "A's" on school essays and spent my free time being nurtured by the voices of writers both inside and out of the classroom. There wasn't a moment when my nose wasn't in a book or when my pen wasn't scribbling away, drawing a map for my fantasy worlds or crafting yet another character profile. Daydreaming and penning poetry was my version of sports. If you asked me what the meaning of a word you didn't know was, more often than not I could tell you. I earned my glasses at the tender age of nine because I read in the dark too much and carpal tunnel from being glued to my keyboard by the age of twenty. You know, typical young writer things.
It felt inevitable that someday I would become an author. And not just because I wanted to be one, but because writing in the English language seemed (at times) like all I was meant for. It was the best way I could express myself and the creative form I enjoyed the most. I grew up and pursued a college degree in journalism and creative writing in a sleepy beachside military town. I kept writing and found my "voice" somewhere between late night writing sessions with my best friend and wondering what the world had in store for me. It was one of the greatest times of my life, and a collection of some of my best memories.
Then I graduated and the world as I knew it ended.
Just kidding. Leave it to the writer to be melodramatic, eh? But if I didn't have your attention before, I'm certain I have it now.
I categorize the early stages of my writing years as those typically seen in writers. I don't think it makes me anything special or particularly sets me apart.
My real author story truly begins back in 2019.
It was within the "nitty gritty" years of my mid- twenties, when my life shifted from guided college student to real world floundering postgraduate artist, that my character arc kicked into effect.
I was working a dead-end job in sales that I hated, had just gotten engaged, and was in the middle of an existential crisis. Then things got worse. My toxic work environment forced me to quit, the big "C" came out of nowhere, and wedding drama spiraled out of control. To say I hit the conflict part of my character journey was an understatement. Only, I didn't have a wise old wizard to dispense advice, and frankly, I'm still a bit salty about it.
There I was, jobless, planning a celebration I couldn't afford, and trying not to die of an infectious disease. In retrospect, it sounds like the backdrop for a rom-com or a horror novel depending on how you look at it.

Thus, when all looked quite bleak, a business was born.
Writing It Wells started as a blog dispensing literary advice to writers and has since rapidly expanded to include my Developmental Editing service and my own author pursuits. If you had asked me four years ago if I ever saw myself becoming a small business owner, I probably would have bashfully shrugged and said "maybe". But now that I'm living the CEO life and have successfully been wearing many hats for it, I'd tell you it all makes sense. My father is an entrepreneur and the brave, risk-taking, infallible belief-in-yourself vibe must have rubbed off somewhere.
In a nutshell, I edit novels because I love them. As an author myself, I understand how much courage and devotion it takes to produce a novel from start to finish. I also know how terrifying it is to send it to your editor and to go on to publish it. It's this sense of kinship that makes me the greatest at being a cheerleader to every author who comes through my door. I honestly believe that each story is special and deserves the utmost care and consideration, and that's what I strive to do through my Developmental Editing. I want to see YOUR novel succeed because I want to see YOU succeed. Because when you believe in yourself, magical things can happen.
I believe in
Jesus, honesty and integrity, that nature heals the soul, that books are portable magic, and that there's nothing quite as soothing as a warm cup of tea or quite as beautiful as the month of October.
I'm not about
Hustle culture, competition amongst artists, not publishing your story, doubting yourself, not stopping to enjoy every flower or sunset, resisting the urge to pet every dog that crosses your path.
You can find me
Dancing in the woods, writing poetry by candlelight, snuggling my dog, catching snowflakes on my tongue, laughing at my husband's jokes, smelling book pages, drinking copious amounts of coffee.
Daily Rituals
Morning devotionals, bullet journaling, feeding my family, putting words to the page, hugging my husband, lighting candles, making several cups of tea, night reading, asmr.

Hi, I'm Ranger.
I'm a miniature pinscher who started life out in unfortunate circumstances, until one day my daddy adopted me and brought me home to the most wonderful woman ever: my mom! If you follow her online, I'm sure you'll love her as much as I do, but more importantly you'll get to see a lot more of my cute face.
