I'm Alina-a fantasy-loving, midnight writer, blogger, and book editor who loves being an Indie author cheerleader. I'm a chronic dog hugger, Moscato drinker, creative thinker, snowflake catcher, creator of worlds. I love to walk in the woods, drink pumpkin spice lattes, practice gratitude, and talk to my imaginary friends.
As a firm believer in owning your own peculiar brand of magic, I founded Writing It Wells to help writers gain confidence in their work and encourage them to share it.
Are you ready to make some magic of your own?
Embrace your authentic author self and unlock the doors to your own magical potential.
How we can work together...
Congrats! You've finished your novel! That rush of adrenaline mixed with euphoria feels like you're on top of the world…but what comes after?
While you may have known exactly how you wanted to write your story, you may feel at a loss for how to navigate the next step.
Editing can be a daunting task and finding the right editor can feel like searching for a unicorn in an enchanted forest. You might be worrying that your story isn't engaging enough, that your characters lack depth, or that your plotline has more holes than swiss cheese (see what I did there? A little Midwest dairy joke for you).
That's where I come in. You can think of me as the sage, you know, like Gandalf. Except without the beard and instead of magic and a wand, I have magical insights and a red pen.
The hero (that's you) and I will work together to help your book become a masterpiece. While this may be challenging, and a bit scary, remember: We're in this together!
That's the best part about what I provide as a Developmental Editor. With me, no book is "just a job". I'm fully invested and open to providing the support you need- so let's get to work!
My ideal client is someone who is wildly enthusiastic but is also willing to do the work. If you're open to new ideas, are looking for an honest opinion, and prefer lots of structure and feedback then I'm the editor for you!
Ready to gain the Gandalf to your Frodo?
Are you ready to bring out the red pen but don't know where to start? Maybe you don't have time or the money for a full Developmental Edit, or you're not sure what kind of editing your book needs- look no further because like Gollum and the ring, a manuscript critique could be your new precious tool.
What makes a manuscript critique special is that it looks at the big picture and is packed with insight on what your strengths and weaknesses are, what your manuscript needs, ways to bridge the gap in those pesky plot holes or how to elevate your character's arc. Here I'm more like the Sam to your Frodo, I'll help you where you need help, support you where you need support, and get you on the right path again.
When we're done, you'll have a strong understanding of what revisions your book might need, what kind of editing might be your next step, and a 10-30 page summary of everything from characters, setting, plotline, flow, structure and more!
My ideal client for this type of editing is someone who is excited to learn what their next step should be, a writer who is looking to expand their knowledge and improve what they have written. If you're ready to learn, strengthen your grasp on storytelling, and prefer to have your feedback summarized then this is the edit for you!
